A mani/tutorial by me.

This is all done by me on my own nails. The look/idea is inspired by Chloe, who runs an AMAZING nail blog that I’ve been reading nonstop lately. Her blog is here: http://chloesnails.blogspot.com/

This is the final look:

First you just need some tape.. cut it into very thin strips. Do this first so you don’t mess up your nails while they’re wet (:

Go ahead and apply your basecoat.

These are the polishes I’m using next, they all have thin brushes so I can make many stripes. You don’t have to use this kind of polish, but you’ll just have thicker stripes. This was just what I felt like doing.

Apply these polishes in stripes, however you want. I chose to go gold-black-silver-white over and over, you can do any colors whenever you want though, it doesn’t really matter!

Also, you can always do this on all your fingers.. but I chose to just do it on my ring finger.

Next, go ahead and paint all your other nails your ‘accent’ color.. which, again, can be any color you choose, but should be contrasting to the stripes. I chose Celestial by Pure Ice.

Now back to the strips.. once your nails are FULLY (Seriously, let them dry COMPLETELY. Go on Tumblr for an hour or use some quick dry top coat. This is super important.) dry, you’re going to put the strips of tape on your nail in stripes going the opposite direction.. the picture explains what I mean.

Press the tape down nice and hard, make sure there are no gaps or anything.. then take that accent color and paint right over it. If its sloppy (like mine) don’t worry, you can clean it up later.

Now lift up the tape (sooner than later, you don’t want it dry at all or it’ll peel off funny) and you’ll be left with the next picture! As you can tell, one of the stripes wasn’t dry enough yet and peeled off.. see why I told you to be patient? Hah.

I was more patient with my right hand.. so here’s a picture of that nail without the peeling!
